Refractions of dew

Lotuses in a pond at Durban’s Botanical Garden

“Clear and colourless, a tiny drop of dew, sits round and perfect on a red lotus petal in my pond.

The sun’s illuminating rays refract from the innermost surface of that little drop of dew.

It glows with delight, clear and colourless on the glistening velvet lotus petal.

When will my heart, like that small and seemingly insignificant dew drop, become pure?

When will it be filled with the light of Sri Ramakrishna?”

Reflections of Faith

Blue LotusOnce more I find myself gazing at reflections on the lotus pond of my mind, wondering about what was, is and will be.

Bubbles of inspiration rise from dark and murky depths, languidly defying the beckonings of gravity.

It seems they are seeking liberation, for as soon as they reach their destination, the surface of the pond, they burst open and emerge in the infinite space, gone.

I am like that transparent bubble. My life, a fragile wall, separating me my soul, from God the sum total of all souls.

I believe that this is one of the definitions of God, the sum total of all souls. I read somewhere that He is like a forest wherein I am a tree.

Sri Ramakrishna said that we should see the infinite in the drop. What a vision! To see the infinite in a drop…

And he actually saw this. In Cossipore he shared some of these revelations with His inner circle. He said

“Both inside and outside. The Indivisible Satchidananda – I see It both inside and outside. It has merely assumed this sheath for a support and exists both inside and outside. I clearly perceive this.”

Space confined in the walls of a bubble seeking freedom from its spherical confines like the soul on its journey to the infinite.

May all be blessed!

May all see auspicious things!
